[ARCHIVED] NOAA Issues Severe Weather Warnings

The NOAA has issued two severe weather warnings for our area:

  1. Flood Watch (12/23 10AM - 12/26 10PM)
  2. Wind Advisory (12/23 4PM - 12/24 4AM)

In preparation for Flooding

  • Pick up sandbags from Millbrae and Palm Ave.
  • Do not drive through flooded roadway, just 6 inches of water can cause you to lose control according to the DMV.
  • Know your evacuation routes

In preparation for Power Outages

  • Charge your devices
  • Keep flashlights, other battery operated lights, and backup batteries in a central location so they are easy to find in the dark
  • Keep frozen bags of water in your refrigerator, and keep your refrigerator closed to retain cold air and prevent food from spoiling
  • Know how to manually open your garage door
  • Check on your elderly or vulnerable neighbors to ensure they are prepared

In preparation for High Winds

  • Firmly secure all outdoor furniture including your garbage bins (lay your can on its side, store in your garage, or secure it to your fence with a bungee cord)
  • Bring in or secure Holiday Decorations (especially inflatable), potted plants and any other loose items
  • Lay basketball hoops on the ground without blocking the sidewalk or roadway
  • If your house is under construction, ensure your contractors have secured your porta potty 
  • Trim any tree branches near your house
