July 23, 2024 Special Election

The Millbrae City Council adopted a resolution calling for a Special Recall Election on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, in which the registered voters of Districts 2 and 4 will decide whether or not to recall the Councilmember representing their district with the following question:

District 2


Shall Angelina Cahalan be recalled (removed) from the office of Council Member of District 2?

YES

NO

District 4


Shall Maurice Goodman be recalled (removed) from the office of Council Member of District 4?

YES

NO


If one-half or more of the votes at a recall election are “No,” the officer sought to be recalled shall continue in office.  If the majority of the votes on a recall proposal are “Yes,” the officer is removed, and the office shall be vacant until it is filled according to law, either by appointment or an election to the unexpired term of the recalled councilmember(s).

ELECTION RESULTS

Preliminary election results are regularly updated on the San Mateo County Elections website until all ballots are counted. Election results are not considered final until the County Elections Office certifies the final results. 

Under Elections Code §15306, the City's Election Official will update the City's website with election results at least once per week until one of the following occurs:

(1) A certified statement of results is published pursuant to Section 15372.

(2) The only ballots left to count are vote by mail ballots for which a voter has the opportunity either to verify their signature pursuant to subdivision (d) of Section 3019 or to provide their signature pursuant to subdivision (e) of Section 3019. If the elections official stops posting results for this reason, they shall post a notice stating this reason on their internet website.
